Adobe raises Creative Cloud prices in North America

Adobe is to raise the price of subscriptions to its Creative Cloud tools, including After Effects, Premiere Pro and Photoshop, on 16 April 2018. The change affects users in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Prices for individual users on single app plans rise from $19.99/month to $20.99/month, while the cost of all apps plans rises from $49.99/month to $52.99/month, both for annual plans paid monthly.

Creative Cloud for teams plans rise in price from $69.99/month to $79.99/month.

Price rises due to cost of inflation and new apps included in subscriptions, says Adobe
In its online FAQs, Adobe justifies the increase on the fairly straightforward grounds that it hasn’t raised its prices since Creative Cloud first launched in April 2012.

In that time, the US consumer price index has increased by 8.2%, making Adobe’s rises – which work out at between 5 and 14% – broadly in line with inflation, at least for individual users.

Adobe has also launched five new Creative Cloud applications since the plaform launched, including 2D animation tool Character Animator CC.

The ProDesignTools blog also points out that the cost of prepaid annual subscriptions has not increased, so if you can afford to pre-pay for a year in advance, you can fix your costs at current levels.
