Eye candy: Animal Logic’s new Coca-Cola short
What do you get when you bring together the directors of Alien and Kung Fu Panda with the creators of Happy Feet? Some unholy new version of capoeira, probably, with a few chest-bursting penguins thrown in on top.
But thankfully, Ridley Scott, John Stevenson and Animal Logic have all put aside their past projects and instead created a rather charming animated short starring the Coca-Cola polar bears.
From Superbowl to supercooled
The six-minute animation, produced by Scott and directed by Stevenson, is Animal Logic’s second outing with the bears, following last year’s successful Superbowl commercials.
(There’s also a new 30-second spot starring the same bear family, but the full-length version is more fun.)
If you wanted to be critical, you might say it’s a touch saccharine: an animated film about being yourself, like every other Hollywood animated film about being yourself.
But honestly, you’d have to be pretty flinty-hearted not to smile at least once. And the CG is, as ever, lovely.
