Japanese site offers over 4,000 free mocap moves
Not actually a new service, but it’s new to us, and it may be to you. Mocapdata.com is a Japanese site offering over 4,000 free motion-capture moves under a creative commons licence.
The data is recorded with a Vicon MX40 12-camera optical set-up and comes in a variety of formats, including FBX, BVH and C3D, for a variety of differently proportioned characters.
As well as the standard motion categories (including a good range of martial arts moves) the site offers a range of offbeat motions, including the charmingly titled ‘Chest and Barf’, ‘Hit Cockroach’ and ‘F**k’ (shown above) – which actually turns out to be flipping the bird.
