The Gnomon Workshop ships Introduction to ZBrush 2021

The Gnomon Workshop has released Introduction to ZBrush 2021, a comprehensive guide to Pixologic’s industry-standard digital sculpting software, recorded by leading artist Madeleine Scott-Spencer.

Described by Gnomon as “the most comprehensive video training series available” for ZBrush, the tutorial comprises over 50 hours of video training, with new chapters devoted to the key features in ZBrush 2021.

A complete guide to sculpting, texturing and rendering in ZBrush
For some years now, Spencer’s ZBrush training for The Gnomon Workshop has provided an invaluable introduction to the software, and is updated with every major release of ZBrush.

The training begins with a quickstart tutorial for users entirely new to ZBrush, covering the process of sculpting a character bust from a base ZSphere.

As well as introducing the software’s interface and its key tools, it explains core ZBrush concepts like model resolution, subdivision levels and the DynaMesh system.

Subsequent chapters focus on other key toolsets for sculpting both organic characters and hard-surface models like props, and for preparing sculpts for 3D printing.

In addition to the sculpting tools, the training covers ZBrush’s growing texturing capabilities, including 3D painting system Polypaint, and the UV Master and Spotlight toolsets.

Spencer also explores the process of rendering ZBrush sculpts, either directly from the software, or using the ZBrush to KeyShot bridge, and how to extract texture maps for use in VFX and games production pipelines.

For experienced users, later chapters focus on the new tools added in ZBrush 2021, the latest major update to the software, including the new cloth sculpting and simulation toolsets.

Other ZBrush 2021 features covered include dynamic thickness, MicroPoly, and Edge Extrude in ZModeler.
