Liquid Dream Solutions has released ButterflyNetRender 6, the latest update for its multi-application network rendering controller, completing its support for Mac OS X.

The render manager, which is compatible with a wide range of 3D software, including LightWave, Maya and Modo, has been used by animation and visual effects facilities including The Embassy and Zoic Studios.

Full OS X support, improved split frame feature
Version 6 markes the official debut of the OS X edition of ButterflyNetRender’s controller software, introduced in beta in version 5.15. The controller can now be set up without the need for a Windows machine.

Other than that, and updates to its split frame feature, version 6 adds support for the latest releases of compatible applications. You can read a longer list of features in the press release below.

Pricing and availability
ButterflyNetRender 6 is available for Windows and Mac OS X. The render client also runs on Linux.

A commercial licence costs from $239 upwards, depending on whether you want the Pro or Pro Studio edition of the software, and how many nodes you need to render on.
