AAA Studio ships FurryBall 4.5

AAA Studio has released version 4.5 of FurryBall, its GPU-based renderer, adding asynchronous progressive rendering. The feature has been added to both the standalone edition and the Maya and new 3ds Max plugins.

The video above, which was rendered on a system with a single Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan consumer GPU, shows progressive rendering on action on a scene with relatively complex subdivision and hair.

And that’s it, essentially, although there are also a number of bugfixes.

FurryBall 4.5 is available now for Maya 2010 and above and 3ds Max 2013 and above, on Windows only. It costs €959 (around $1,300) for the regular edition and €659 ($900) for the standalone renderfarm edition.

Coming soon to Modo or Softimage?
AAA Studio is currently running a poll on which other 3D packages to support, including Blender, Cinema 4D, Houdini, Modo and Softimage. A Linux version is already a “high priority”.
