Antoine Bagattini releases Baga River Generator v2 for Blender


Architectural visualization artist and tools developer Antoine Bagattini has released Baga River Generator v2, the latest version of his add-on for creating 3D rivers in Blender.

The add-on, co-created with artist Laura Mercadal, lets users create detailed rivers simply by drawing freehand paths in the viewport.

Version 2 automatically blends the river cleanly into surrounding terrain, and generates procedural foam in the animated water.

Released in May, Baga River Generator lets users create 3D rivers for animation, motion graphics or architectural visualization work simply by drawing a path in the viewport.

The add-on then generates a detailed 3D river along the course of the path, complete with water, banks, and surrounding terrain, populated with rocks and plants.

To that, version 2 adds automatic carving, with the add-on automatically cutting a course into terrain, integrating the river with its surroundings.

The feature makes it possible to create a river with “just a plane and a curve”.

River generation is also now compatible the scatter modifier in BagaPie, Bagattini’s free multi-purpose Blender add-on, with instanced rocks and plants removed from the river’s course.

In addition, the update removes one of the limitations of the original release, with the add-on now generating procedural foam, increasing the realism of the animated water.

Price and system requirements
Baga River Generator v2 is compatible with Blender 4.2+. It has a standard price of $19, up $7 since the original release.

To install it, you need the GeoPack system in BagaPie, Bagattini’s free Blender modifier, which is now available as an Extension directly inside Blender.
