Master superhero concept design for film and TV

The Gnomon Workshop has released Superhero Concept Design for Film & TV, a complete guide to creating a professional-quality 3D concept design recorded by Eternals concept artist Luca Nemolato.

The intermediate-level workshop, which comprises 165 minutes of training, spans a range of software including Daz Studio, ZBrush, Marvelous Designer, KeyShot and Photoshop.

A complete guide to 3D character and costume design, from figure posing to final render
In the workshop, Nemolato reveals the workflow he uses himself on blockbuster movies and TV series, sharing techniques he has developed from many years of professional work in the industry.

He begins in figure-creation and posing software Daz Studio, where he establishes a pose for a base character that can then be imported into ZBrush for resculpting and detailing anatomy.

Nemolato then generates a rough render of the character in KeyShot and brings it into Photoshop where he sketches 2D designs over the image to explore ideas for the costume’s bodysuit.

The design selected is then used as a reference inside ZBrush, where he sculpts 3D detail for the bodysuit, before generating a cape for the character in clothing design tool Marvelous Designer.

Finally, Nemolato renders the costumed character in KeyShot, before returning to Photoshop for final compositing, digital painting and post-production work.
