Computerinsel has updated PhotoLine, its sub-$100 image-editing tool, with PhotoLine 23.0 adding a new mesh gradient type and support for stitching panoramic images.
Although not as widely known as the Adobe or Affinity tools, PhotoLine is a versatile image editor, with support for 32-bit linear workflow for bitmap images, plus both vector design and page layout features.
Vector editing: new non-destructive workflow for Boolean operations
The release introduces Mesh Gradients, a new gradient type that uses deformable 2D meshes to create 2D colour gradients that can approximate the look of 3D surfaces, shown in the image above.
Other new features include the option to stitch images into panoramas, and a new Focus Stacking system for combining multiple photos of the same subject with different focal points into a single, sharp image.
Updated 5 October 2022: PhotoLine 23.5 is out. It’s largely a performance and workflow update: changes include “many image tools” now working on a new layer, leaving the original layer unchanged.
Pricing and availability
PhotoLine 23.5 is available now for Windows 7/10/11 and Mac OS X 10.9+. It costs €59 (around $59).
