Eye candy: the Ratchet & Clank movie trailer

Live-action movies based on games have a long and terrifying history. (Super Mario Bros, anyone?) But animated features based on games might at least be intentionally funny, if the first trailer for Ratchet & Clank is anything to go by.

The movie itself, being produced by Rainmaker Entertainment from Insomniac Games’ long-running series of PlayStation games, isn’t out until 2015, so you won’t learn much about the plot from the teaser.

What you get instead is a nice little skit based around the characters from the games, and featuring a (sadly, all too rare) shout-out to the animators working on the movie.
