Register for the free Houdini FLIP fluids webinar

Discover how this waterfall was created via Side Effects Software’s upcoming 30-minute Houdini 12 webinar.

Side Effects Software is hosting a free 30-minute webinar on using Houdini 12’s FLIP fluid simulation tools. The online session takes place on 2 or 3 May, depending which international time zone you’re in.

The session explores how to create the 65-million-particle simulation of the waterfall shown above.

According to the event blurb: “This webinar will introduce you to the power and ease-of-use of using FLIP fluids in Houdini. Senior Production Consultant Judith Crow will introduce you to the power of Houdini 12’s faster solver and explore some of its key features. She will then demonstrate how without secondary effects the waterfall effect falls flat.

“Artist Scott Keating will then discuss how he used the velocity and surface fields generated by the FLIP fluid sim to generate white water effects. He will show how an artist can create these effects using Houdini’s node-based workflow. He will also talk about using physically-based rendering and a uniform volume to achieve a foamy look for the white water.”

Places are limited, so follow the link below to register in advance. The site also includes a video of the entire animation, complete with a breakdown of the effects.
