Complex graphics ‘bring the iPad to its knees’

UK game development magazine ‘Develop’ has posted some initial thoughts from game developers about the iPad. Unfortunately, not as rosy as one might think.

Brian Greenstone, CEO of Pangea Software was quoted in the article to say, “[The iPad’s processor is] a mobile chip, and not really designed for such a high resolution screen. That means it’s a little bit fill rate limited – if you’ve got a lot of overlapping 3D models and fog or a complex environment like a lot of games, it brings the iPad to its knees.”

The challenges aren’t insurmountable, but definitely some hurdles to overcome.
