Pixologic has released ZBrush 2021.6.2, a free quality-of-life update to the digital sculpting software that makes it possible to modify the behaviour of the new Sticky Keys system.

The functionality, shown in the video above, was introduced in ZBrush 2021.6, the latest major feature release, which shipped earlier this month.

New Sticky Keys system from ZBrush 2021.6 now disabled by default
Sticky Keys makes it possible to hold down any hotkey that triggers a slider in ZBrush’s interface, move the cursor to adjust that slider, then release the hotkey.

The system was intended to reduce the number of mouse clicks required to accomplish common tasks, but some users reported that it made sliders glitchy.

In ZBrush 2021.6.1, the previous update, Pixologic made it possible to change the time a hotkey needs to be held to trigger the new behaviour; and in ZBrush 2021.6.2, it is now disabled by default.

Updated 10 March 2021: Pixologic has released ZBrush 2021.6.4, the latest free update, adding the option to display folders with a period in the name inside the Lightbox asset browser.

The previous 2021.6.3 update adds a new skinning mode to ZBrush’s DynaMesh system, automatically increasing resolution for smaller objects.

ZBrush’s VDM (Vector Displacement Mesh) brushes make it possible to add entire body parts to a sculpt with a couple of clicks. The free ZBrush 2021.6.6 update makes them compatible with Sculptris Pro.

Updated 28 May 2021: Pixologic has released ZBrush 2021.6.6, another free update that gives ZBrush feature parity with ZBrushCoreMini 2021, the new free edition of the software.

That’s actually quite significant, since it means that the VDM (Vector Displacement Mesh) brushes and Chisel 3D brushes now work with Sculptris Pro.

ZBrush users also get the new Chisel 3D brushes included in ZBrushCoreMini.

Pricing and system requirements
ZBrush 2021.6.6 is available for 64-bit Windows Vista+ and Mac OS X 10.11+. New perpetual licences cost $895; subscriptions cost $39.95/month or $179.95 for six months. The update is free to existing users.
