Teya Conceptor’s free version just got a lot more like the Pro edition

Teya Conceptor’s Variants system is no longer capped in the free edition of the kitbashing software, and can be used to create up to 100 procedural variants of an object at a time.

Animator and tools developer Arseniy Korablev has lifted many of the restrictions on the free version of the Teya Conceptor, his 3D concept design and kitbashing software.

Users of the free edition are now no longer limited to a single object per scene, and the feature limitations on the Variants system and Generators have been removed.

Create 3D concept art quickly and intuitively by sketching in 3D space
First released in 2016, and originally called PolyBrush, Teya Conceptor is intended to help concept artists to create 3D forms more intuitively than in conventional sculpting packages.

Users can sketch out forms by creating strokes in 3D space, using brush presets designed to mimic organic or mechanical parts. The resulting geometry can then be modified using more conventional modelling tools.

Once complete, models can be remeshed and exported to other software in OBJ format. It is also possible to import OBJ files to use as the basis for custom brushes.

Many of the feature limits on the free edition removed…
The latest update to Teya Conceptor – at the time of writing, the current version is Teya Conceptor 6.072 – lifts many of the main restrictions on the free edition.

The biggest change is that the free edition is no longer limited to a single object per scene, which greatly restricted the complexity of the forms it could be used to create.

The restrictions on Generators, Teya Conceptor’s system for generating complex forms procedurally, have also been lifted, with users now able to use the Similar button.

Finally, the Variants system introduced in Teya Conceptor 6.0 is no longer capped, and can now be used to create up to 100 procedural variants of an object at a time, as in the Pro edition.

…although some restrictions remain
Obviously, some restrictions remain, the main one being that working sessions are time-limited in the free version: after a certain point, you have to restart the software to continue work.

Some features, particularly Generators, also have time delays before you can use them, with the delay increasing with each use.

However, the update also improves the stability of the software over the 6.0 release, and the software should update automatically, so if you haven’t fired it up for a while, it’s worth doing.

Price and system requirements
Teya Conceptor is available for Windows and macOS.

The base edition is free, with the restrictions set out in the online FAQs.

The Pro edition now has a standard price of $250 for a perpetual licence. Rental has a standard price of $15/month or $99/year.
