Boris FX releases Mocha Pro 2026

Boris FX has released Mocha Pro 2026, the latest version of the planar and 3D tracking software.

The update introduces a new AI-based tool for refining the edges of mattes, and a new system for refining camera solves, and reintroduces the software’s curve editor.

Matte Refine ML refines the edges of mattes for objects with fine detail or motion blur
Mocha Pro 2026 extends the AI matte-generation workflow introduced in Mocha Pro 2025.

A new AI model, Matte Refine ML, refines the edges of existing mattes to improve accuracy when masking fine details like hair, or shots with motion blur.

It is also now possible to convert a group of layers to a single combined matte.

Refine Solve lets you clean up camera solves without re-running them
Other key changes include a new Refine Solve system, for cleaning up problem areas of a camera solve.

Users can now delete unstable or unwanted 3D features from a solve, rather than re-running the entire thing, even if the scene has been subsequently edited.

Other workflow and pipeline integration changes
Mocha Pro’s curve editor, removed several versions ago, has been rewritten and reintroduced.

According to Boris FX, the core has been “completely rebuilt” to improve performance, and the interface has been updated, with users now able to float or dock the UI panel.

Workflow improvements include new options for filtering and previewing tracking data.

For pipeline integration, Mocha Pro 2026 supports the CY2025 spec for VFX Reference Platform.

Price and system requirements
Mocha Pro 2026 is available as a standalone application, and as Adobe, Avid and OFX plugins. The standalone is compatible with Windows 10+, RHEL/Rocky Linux 8-9 and macOS 12.7.6+.
