Tutorial: Mastering Body Mechanics in Maya
The Gnomon Workshop has released Mastering Body Mechanics in Maya, a guide to character animation using the Master Control recorded by animator Kevin Nguyen.
The workshop provides just under four hours of video training in Maya.
Master a time-saving character animation workflow for movies and game cinematics
Although the Master Control in Maya – also sometimes known as the world control or global control – is usually used for the placement of 3D characters, it can also be used to make the animation process simpler – but only providing that you use it correctly.
In the workshop, Nguyen reveals how to do just that, setting out a character animation workflow suitable for use on both personal projects and in professional production.
The time-saving workflow eliminates a lot of the technical hurdles in posing when animating a shot that requires a lot of movements, especially very complex character mechanics.
The workshop uses Kiel Figgins’ commercial Peinto Anim Rig.
