Tutorial: master dynamic illustration techniques
Check out Dynamic Illustration Techniques Using ZBrush, Photoshop & Painter, The Gnomon Workshop’s new guide to 3D illustration workflows, recorded by freelance sculptor Mike Thompson.
The workshop provides over three hours of video training in ZBrush, Photoshop and Corel Painter.
Master the techniques of an award-winning 3D illustrator
In the workshop, Thompson takes viewers through the workflow he uses to create dynamic package and poster art for clients like Nike, Marvel and Warner Bros, painting over renders of a 3D model.
Beginning from a concept provided by Cameron Davis, Thompson creates a digital maquette in ZBrush, then generates BPR renders to composite in Photoshop.
He then uses the Photoshop composite as a basis for the final paintover, using Corel Painter.
During the video tutorials, Thompson details his entire workflow, from collecting reference images to digital sculpting, and provides tips and tricks to improve your own digital painting work.
