Gnomon releases three new anatomy training DVDs
The Gnomon Workshop has released three new human anatomy training DVDs in figurative artist and illustrator Charles Hu’s successful Anatomy Workshop series.
Continuing where his first DVDs left off, Hu introduces three new subjects: Skeletal Structure, Mechanics and Proportion, Anatomical Structure of the Human Head, and the Structure and Anatomy of the Human Torso.
How the training breaks down
In Anatomy Workshop Vol. 3: Skeletal Structure, Mechanics and Proportion, Hu breaks down the primary skeletal structures of the human body, including the head, spine, shoulder, rib cage, pelvis, arms and legs.
In discussing each one, Hu examines key skeletal landmarks, proportions, and the mechanics of each system.
As the title suggests, Anatomy Workshop Vol. 4: Anatomy of the Human Head focuses on the human head. Hu first discusses the structure of the head, examining its planes through a series of life-drawing exercises.
He then breaks down the muscular systems and explores how the muscle groups control facial expressions.
In Anatomy Workshop Vol. 5: Structure and Anatomy of the Human Torso, Hu discusses the skeletal and muscular systems of the torso, starting with the frontal muscles of the neck, chest, shoulders and abdominal muscle groups, before moving to the muscle groups on the back, exploring how each influences human motion.
A must-have for character artists
Gnomon describes the series of videos, which clock in between two and half and four and a half hours in length, as “a must-have for any artist looking to take their figurative art or character designs to the next level”.
Each title in the Anatomy Workshop series is available now in The Gnomon Workshop’s online store on DVD or digital download, price $39. The first two entries cover anatomy fundamentals and lighting and shading.
