Phoenix FD for Maya enters beta testing

Chaos Group is calling for beta testers for Phoenix FD for Maya, the new port of its grid-based fluid simulator, originally released for 3ds Max.

Phoenix FD is capable of simulating both gaseous fluids like smoke and fire, and denser liquids, including splashes and foam. The new implementation is compatible with standard Maya dynamics; and GI, lighting and motion blur are provided by V-Ray for Maya.

Becoming a beta tester entitles you to early access to the software, and a chance to receive a free copy if you are “among the most active testers” – although so far, there are no details on exactly how active you have to be.

The beta program is open to users of V-Ray 2.1 or 2.2 for Maya with a Chaos Group hardware dongle. Phoenix FD for Maya is compatible with Maya 2010 or above running on 64-bit Windows operating systems, or Linux.

The beta program is expected to last two months.
