Polynoid’s most celebrated short, Loom, is a miniature Gothic masterpiece, in matching monochrome.
But for its most recent job, the title sequence for the MTV Europe Music Awards, the ace German directorial team turned to a revolutionary new invention: colour.
The resulting 30-second spot adapts the organic qualities of Polynoid’s previous work to MTV’s house style.
The result is a kaleidoscopic underwater extravaganza featuring a variety of stylised creatures. As the Polynoid website puts it: “Jules Verne would be proud… or turn in his grave.”
