Tutorial: Storyboarding for Film & Games


The Gnomon Workshop has released Storyboarding for Film & Games, a guide to professional storyboarding workflows recorded by storyboard artist Ibrahim Jara.

The workshop provides just under two hours of video training in Storyboard Pro and Blender.

An essential guide to current professional storyboarding workflows
In the workshop, Jara shares his workflow for storyboarding sequences for movies and games.

He begins by exploring how to plan story beats with a focus on locations and characters.

He then sketches out ideas, laying down loose thumbnails that he refines in successive passes to create a working storyboard sequence, adding and subtracting story elements as needed.

Topics covered include composition, lighting, acting, action, editing and pacing in storyboards.

About the artist
Ibraheem Jara is has been a storyboard artist since 2018. Projects that he has contributed to include animated series Final Space, Star Trek: Prodigy, Overwatch 2 and X-Men ‘97.
