Master storyboarding techniques for films and games
The Gnomon Workshop has released Storyboarding Techniques: Creating a Fight Sequence, a guide to effective storyboarding workflows recorded by Riot Games artist Rembert Montald.
The 200-minute intermediate-to-expert-level workshop is recorded in Photoshop, but the skills can be transferred to any other drawing software.
Master essential techniques for storyboarding games, movies and animations
During the workshop, Montald shares his process for creating and choreographing a visually pleasing storyboard, from the initial drawing through to an animatic of the final sequence.
Using a fight sequence as an example, Montald reveals how to lead the viewer’s eye through the shots, and sets out shorthand techniques for detailing characters and action poses quickly and effectively.
The workshop also covers techniques for pacing yourself, setting expectations, and understanding working standards within contemporary animation, visual effects and game development studios.
As well as the tutorial videos themselves, viewers of the workshop can download Montald’s working files, including a PSD with full boards and four PSD animatic files.
