Act-3D releases Lumion 9.5

Act-3D has released Lumion 9.5, the latest version of its real-time architectural visualisation software, adding a set of over 50 new wood, brick and flooring materials, plus new stock tree and plant models.

The update also improves performance when importing models in Collada format.

Core software: faster Collada import
The core software gets few new features in Lumion 9.5: the update improves speed and reduces memory use when importing Collada files from ‘trusted sources’, including 3ds Max, Blender and SketchUp.

Other than that, it’s largely bugfixes this time round, including a fix for crashes when importing assets with very large textures: those larger than 16,384px in width or height.

New wood and brick materials, plus plant models for Pro users
Instead, the bulk of the changes are to the stock content included with the software.

Both editions get 52 new readymade materials: primarily wooden planks and flooring, and brick materials, but also two diamond steel floors and one fabric material.

Users of the Pro edition also get 14 new tree models, 26 new potted plant models and 96 ‘forest wood objects’ like branches, twigs and tree stumps.

According to the release notes, “some” of the models are also unlocked in the base edition of the software, but there doesn’t seem to be an exact breakdown online.

The update is also not backwards-compatible: scenes saved in Lumion 9.5 are not compatible with older versions of the software.

Pricing and availability
Lumion 9.5 is available for 64-bit Windows Vista+. The update is free to users of Lumion 9.0 and above.

The standard edition of the software costs €1,499 (around $1,710); the Pro edition costs €2,999 ($3,415). You can see a comparison table here.
