Eye candy: three great new Golaem crowd sim reels

It’s less than two months since Golaem released Golaem Crowd 4.0, the latest version of its Maya crowd simulation tool, so we weren’t expecting a new showreel from the company for a while.

So it came as a surprise to discover that Golaem has not just released one new demo reel – but three.

The biggest crowd-pleaser is probably the crowd battle reel (above), which includes some key shots from Dracula Untold, created by Framestore, along with nice work from Cinesite, Platige Image and Pixomondo.

However, the ambient population reel is equally impressive, featuring some striking TV and commercials work from much smaller studios like Pixel Magic, Union, Mathematic and Zoic.

It also includes Stargate Studios‘ eye-catching shots from The Walking Dead, seen on the March demo reel.

And to round off, there’s a crowd stadium reel – the title image above is from Milk – which makes up for what it lacks in terms of actor movement with the sheer number of virtual characters involved.

All three reels contain some very nice shots, and collectively, they’re a fun way to kill five minutes.
