e-on software has released Ozone 2014, the latest version of its atmospheric plugin for 3ds Max, Maya, Softimage, Cinema 4D and LightWave, adding a new physically accurate sunlight model.

According to e-on, the “new, scientifically accurate [photometric] model offers an alternative to the more artistic approach of the existing Spectral model”.

The update also supports the latest versions of all of its host applications, plus V-Ray 3.0 for 3ds Max, with support for V-Ray 3.0 for Maya in development.

Pricing and availability
Ozone 2014 is available now for 64-bit Windows XP and above, and Mac OS X 10.6 and above. A licence costs $295, and works with all compatible software installed on the host machine. Network render licenses cost $95.

Updated 25 July: e-on has released the free PLE edition of Ozone 2014 for non-commercial work. It never expires, but renders are limited to 720p (or HD for stills), and there are quite a few other restrictions.

You can download Ozone 2014 PLE here.
