Adobe releases After Effects 24.6
Adobe has released After Effects 24.6, the latest version of the compositing software.
It’s a bugfix and quality-of-life update, improving workflow when importing and exporting files, and adding new scripting hooks for managing fonts.
Improved import and export workflow
After Effects 24.6 improves workflow when importing and exporting files.
When importing, it is possible to do so directly to a folder in the Project panel.
When exporting, there are two new file name presets, Comp Name and Aspect Ratio, which incorporate the name and aspect ratio of the composition into its file name.
Another new option, Render Next To Project File, saves rendered output in the same directory as the project file.
New scripting hooks for managing fonts
Other changes include new scripting hooks for managing the fonts in a project, particularly for controlling how fonts are synchronized.
There are also a number of bugfixes, including to the new 3D features.
Price and system requirements
After Effects 24.6 is available for Windows 10+ and macOS 12.0+ on a rental-only basis. Single-app After Effects subscriptions cost $34.49/month or $263.88/year.
In the online documentation, the update is also referred to as the August 2024 release.
