Designing Unique Vehicle Concepts for Production


The Gnomon Workshop has released Designing Unique Vehicle Concepts for Production, a guide to designing vehicles for movies and videogames, recorded by concept artist Jose Borges.

The workshop, which provides two hours of video training, is aimed at intermediate-level Photoshop users.

Discover how to create better vehicle concepts in Photoshop for use in games or movies
In the workshop, Borges sets out how to create believable, unique designs for vehicles in Photoshop, suitable for use in production in visual effects, animation or game development.

Topics covered include understanding design direction, how to use reference information to inform designs, developing strong narratives in which to ground ideas, and how to balance detail in designs.

As well as the training videos themselves, viewers can download Borges’s final design in PSD format.

About the artist
Jose Borges is a senior concept artist at Lightspeed LA, Tencent’s US game development studio, having previously worked for VFX and videogame companies including Blur Studio, Framestore and Treyarch.

His credits include Love, Death & Robots, the Call of Duty: Black Ops series, Wonder Woman, Planet of the Apes, Ready Player One and Dimension 404.
