Amazon ships Lumberyard 1.17

Amazon has released Lumberyard 1.17, the latest beta of the game engine and development environment, improving workflow in the Asset Browser and Entity Outliner, particularly when working with slices.

Workflow improvements to Lumberyard’s built-in outliner and asset browser
Lumberyard 1.17 is purely a workflow update, particularly for users working with Slices, Lumberyard’s nestable asset groups.

The Entity Editor now indicates visually which slices have overrides applied, and which are the roots of slice hierarchies. Users can also drag and drop entities between slices.

Other workflow improvements include the option to sort entities in the Entity Outliner and to locate entries in the Entity Outliner from the Asset Browser.

When working with test assets, or assets for review, it is also now possible to mark entities as Editor Only so that they do not appear in gameplay mode.

Availability and system requirements
Lumberyard 1.17 is available now. The editor runs on Windows 7 and above.

The engine is free to use for developing offline and local multiplayer games, including source code access; online games must use Amazon Web Services, charged at Amazon’s standard AWS rates.
