Hugh Jackman had it easy in Real Steel: at least he owned Noisy Boy and Atom. So pity the poor sap in How to Train Your Robot who actually ends up working for a boxing cyborg.
A neat little VFX short with an interestingly gritty take on robot design, the film sets up a contest between human jaw and giant robotic fist – with fairly predictable results.
Created by students at the new Platige Academy
Supervised by Oscar-nominated director Tomek Bagiński, the film was created by students at Platige Academy: a new joint venture between animation house Platige Image and The Witcher game developer CD Projekt RED.
At the minute, the Academy only offers a single course, but with a pedigree like that, it has the potential to become a Polish counterpart to leading western European animation schools like Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and Supinfocom. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
