Allan McKay posts two new VFX pipeline training videos

VFX supervisor Allan McKay has posted a couple of interesting new free training videos on setting up visual effects pipelines, aimed at artists rather than programmers.

On his site, McKay writes: “I’m far from a programmer … hell, I didn’t even finish Jr. High. But I’ve yet to run into a problem I task I haven’t been able to do, and it’s just a matter of looking at it all from the right angle.”

If you’re looking for that right angle yourself, the video above explores how to set up a system for processing FumeFX simulations remotely; a second video explores how to access render nodes via MAXScript.

Useful stuff, and on a topic not often covered by training videos. For anyone wanting more software-specific material, McKay also has a new commercial DVD out, FumeFX Maya Genesis.
