Neat free Blender add-on LimbKit generates 3D hands and feet
3D artist and motion designer Jörg Grubmüller has released LimbKit, an amazingly fun-looking procedural tool for generating 3D hands and feet in Blender.
The Geometry Nodes-based tool lets users quickly block out hands, feet (or paws) for 3D creatures and characters, particularly for stylized work.
A simple, fast procedural tool for blocking out hands and feet for 3D characters
LimbKit provides a quick alternative to sculpting hands and feet manually, with users simply placing readymade fingers and toes onto a palm or base mesh.
The add-on then merges everything into a clean mesh that can then be adjusted through controls for finger length, spacing, orientation, and overall shape.
It works for creatures as well as human characters – there is readymade mesh for a bird’s foot, plus a range of claws, and Grubmüller says that it can be used for paws and stylized limbs.
It’s probably best suited to more stylized characters for illustrations or animations, but it includes realistically proportioned base models for hands and feet that can be refined manually.
Grubmüller himself specializes in cartoon-ier characters, having worked as a Senior 3D Character Modeler for animation and VFX studio arx anima.
System requirements and licensing
LimbKit is compatible with Blender 4.5+. It’s a free download.
