New features in Unfold3D Generation 8. (Warning: there are audio problems with this video.)

Polygonal Design has released Unfold3D Generation 8, a new version of its standalone UV unwrapping software, also included in cut-down form inside Softimage.

New features in version 8 include a new 64-bit core capable of unwrapping much larger meshes (“up to a million triangles”), and a new multi-grid UV layout for use in tools like Mari that use the UDIM UV-offset system

There are also “major improvements” for solving topology errors in meshes when importing OBJs, and new options for selecting and manipulating UV islands.

Unfold3D Generation 8 is available now for Windows and Mac OS X 10.8. A freelance licence costs €299 (around $390) and a single network licence costs €699 (around $920).
