Disney has released the first proper trailer for its upcoming sci-fi epic John Carter of Mars.
Based on Edgar Rice Burroughs’ cult pulp novel, the movie has the dubious distinction of the longest period in development hell yet recorded: Looney Tunes director Bob Clampett first tried to adapt the book in the 1930s.
Has the wait been worth it? On the evidence of this trailer… maybe. The result looks pleasant enough, but rather more Clash of the Titans than Avatar.
