Visitors to Gnomon’s Hollywood campus next Thursday, 21 February 2019, will have a rare chance to discover what goes into creating some of the world’s most memorable CG characters.

At Creating Relatable Characters with MPC, a free evening event, key artists from the Oscar-winning VFX firm will reveal the workflows behind some of the company’s most memorable creations.

The event will also be broadcast worldwide online: you can watch for free via the player above.

Learn the creature design secrets of the studio behind The Jungle Book and Buster the Boxer
Over the years, MPC has created some of the industry’s best-loved CG characters, from the Oscar-winning animals from The Jungle Book to the stars of ads like Buster the Boxer and Volkswagen ‘Born Confident’.

In Creating Relatable Characters with MPC, three of the studio’s leading artists will discuss the thought processes behind some of those well-known creations.

During the event, MPC head of CG Ryan McDougal, creative director Michael Gregory, and VFX supervisor Dan Seddon will discuss the challenges they face in production.

The panel will explore what goes into designing, modelling and animating an appealing CG character, covering everything from the importance of planning to the software and techniques they use in production.

Creating Relatable Characters with MPC takes place at Gnomon’s Hollywood campus from 7.30-10:00pm on Thursday 21 February 2019. Entry is free, but you’ll need to register online first.
