ActionVFX halves price of all stock effects clips

VFX stock footage library ActionVFX has permanently halved the price of all its practical effects clips. The move makes individual 2K effects elements available from just $5 and 4K elements from $10.

The company says that a reduction in price has been the most common request among users since its launch, and that it does not expect the cut to harm the quality of future effects.

High-resolution practical effects elements for VFX artists, filmed by VFX artists
Launched in 2016 after a successful Kickstarter funding campaign, ActionVFX has grown to become the world’s largest library of VFX stock footage.

It now offers over 1,700 practical effects elements, including explosions, fire, smoke, debris, water and gun muzzle flashes, all shot in Log colour space at 60 or 120fps, and available at up to 6K resolution.

The effects are shot to stay completely in frame for their entire duration, and as well as the pre-keyed clips, higher-resolution versions of the assets come with original unkeyed footage as raw .R3D or .MFX files.

A permanent 50% cut in the price of all stock effects elements
Today’s price cut makes ActionVFX’s usual Black Friday discount the permanent price for assets on the site, making lower-resolution (2K or 3K) clips available for $5-10, and high-res versions available for $15-20.

CEO Rodolphe Pierre-Louis commented that he expected increased sales to make up for the drop in prices, and that he did not expect the quality of future products to suffer.

“Our goal from the very beginning has always been to be the #1 place for high-quality VFX stock footage, and we believe this price cut will not hurt that vision,” he said.

Planned future releases include “some of [ActionVFX’s] biggest and highest-quality VFX elements to date”, including dust explosions and flamethrowers, all filmed on a RED Weapon Helium 8K camera.
