The Gnomon Workshop has released Introduction to Substance Painter: a comprehensive guide to Allegorithmic’s next-gen texture-painting software recorded by Naughty Dog technical artist Christophe Desse.
A complete guide to texturing hard-surface and organic models
In the video, which lasts for over four hours, Desse provides a detailed outline of Substance Painter’s tools and features, then moves on to explore texturing workflow more deeply.
He begins with a detailed car model, exploring alternative techniques for texturing the various components, and how to handle material settings and maps; then moves on to its driver to examine character texturing.
The video concluded by looking at how to set up shaders, lighting and cameras in the Redshift renderer for Maya, which provides powerful GPU rendering.
