Download Nvidia’s Maxwell Apollo 11 demo scene

A couple of months back, Nvidia produced a real-time lighting demo created using Unreal Engine 4 that attempted to debunk some of the claims made by people who believe the moon landings were faked.

It was a cute publicity stunt, and got a fair bit of coverage for Nvidia’s new Maxwell GPU architecture, introduced in its GeForce GTX 980 and 970 gaming cards.

Predictably, as the comments on the YouTube video above show, it didn’t actually silence all of the conspiracy theorists. So now Nvidia has released the scene itself so you can check if there was any trickery involved.

You’ll need to be running Windows 7 or 8 – and obviously, you’ll need a GeForce GTX 970 or better. It probably still won’t be enough for the diehard believers, but at least the voxel global illumination looks pretty.
