Mario Baldi creates free FiberMesh to Maya script

Grooming with FiberMesh: a Pixologic demo image of ZBrush 4R2b’s new hair system. Artist Mario Baldi has just released a free script to convert polygonal FiberMesh hair to Maya curves.

Another day, another tool for exporting ZBrush hair.

As if to prove just how much ZBrush 4R2b’s new FiberMesh hair system has captured the imagination of the CG community, artist Mario Baldi has just released a free script for converting polygonal FiberMesh hair to Maya curves for rendering.

The script is still a work in progress, and Baldi says that he is planning to implement a GUI to enable the user to control how many curves are generated, potentially generating much lighter scene files.

Yesterday, Wayne Robson released a free script for doing much the same thing with 3ds Max, exporting polygonal FiberMesh hair as splines.
