Luxion has shipped KeyShot 3, the latest update to its intuitive photorealistic renderer.

Although it has its followers in the DCC community, the software is primarily intended to enable designers and engineers with no formal 3D experience to create realistic imagery quickly and easily.

As we reported from Siggraph, KeyShot 3 extends this philosophy to animation, with a new add-on module enabling novices to create technical animations by manipulating offset transforms rather than keyframes.

KeyShot 3 also features a more streamlined user interface and support for data in a greater range of file formats – most of them native CAD formats, but also including animation data in FBX format.

KeyShot is available now for Windows and Mac OS X, price $995. The Animation add-on costs $500.
