Chaos Group announces Phoenix FD 2.0

Chaos Group’s introductory video for Phoenix FX. The developer is calling for beta testers for version 2.0.

Chaos Group has released details of Phoenix FD 2.0, the next release of its 3ds Max fluid-simulation plug-in.

Version 2.0 gains a new shader for simulating foam and splashes above a fluid surface, an improved GPU preview and a geometry gizmo for rendering only the part of a simulation that lies within a user-defined region.

Blending between atmospheric shaders has been improved, as has the ability to simulate flat liquid surfaces.

No release date or pricing details have been announced. However, Chaos Group is calling for users to join the beta testing program. Any registered user of Phoenix FD or V-Ray for 3ds Max is eligible to join.
