Gnomon releases Photo Collage Prototyping

The Gnomon Workshop has released Photo Collage Prototyping, a new two-hour guide to concept art workflow from games artist and Quixel brand director Ryan Hawkins.

The video explores the process of creating concepts rapidly in Photoshop, using five unique examples.

In the tutorial, Hawkins discusses the relative advantages of using photographs versus painting, and shares his techniques for blending images, including removing noise and lens distortion, and matching lighting.

Photo Collage Prototyping also comes from a different perspective to most guides to photobashing: as a 3D artist, Hawkins found that quick techniques for look development accelerated his other work.

About the artist
Ryan Hawkins was Lead Artist on Tom Clancy’s The Division for Ubisoft Massive, and has contributed to titles including Aliens: Colonial Marines and Hawken.

He is the creator of the free training book series VERTEX and brand director for Quixel, the creators of texturing tools nDo and dDo.

Pricing and availability
Photo Collage Prototyping is available from The Gnomon Workshop’s online store as a digital download, with a DVD release to follow. It costs $49.
