Autodesk has acquired point cloud tools developer Alice Labs, GraphicSpeak is reporting.

The Netherlands-based company developed Studio Clouds, a viewing and editing package for dense point cloud data of the type generated by LIDAR scanning, with plug-ins for 3ds Max and Maya.

The Alice Labs website has been taken down, but you can still read the text of the old product brochure online.

Autodesk hasn’t commented on the deal, so the best account is from the GraphicSpeak story itself.
