You can judge Alex Roman’s reputation within the industry from the fact that 3ds Max founder Gary Yost recently described his short film The Third & Seventh as the project that made the pain of developing Max worthwhile.
Roman’s latest commercial, a spot for Silestone kitchen worktops, won’t hurt that reputation either. Incredibly, it’s 100% CG. It’s only when the beautifully rendered grapes and peppers begin to shatter against the work surface that you stop admiring the beautiful photography, and realise that it’s actually beautiful rendering.
