Leonard Teo and Matt McCorkell announce a new content direction and preview some upcoming features.

Hey guys,

Last week we launched the new CG Channel and got some really awesome feedback. Thank you all for the great comments and feedback on the new site. Our traffic has increased dramatically and we’re getting a lot of suggestions, critiques and to our surprise, no flames (yet). Pretty much everything has been positive. Thank you!

Today, we’re announcing our new content direction for CG Channel and also addressing an important change in the overall management of CG Channel.

Part of Gnomon – This is a new CG Channel with a new team

One of the key changes is that this is a new CG Channel with a completely new team behind it. Many of you may have been following CG Channel for years and may not have realized that CG Channel was acquired by Gnomon. We want to make it known that we are a part of Gnomon, which includes Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood (and online) and The Gnomon Workshop, which produces the great training DVD’s. The people who used to run CG Channel have all moved on to other endeavors and this is an entirely new team running CG Channel.

New Content Direction – Video Features

When we spoke to our readers, most people said that there are too many CG sites out there now offering the same content. Because of this, we felt it necessary to differentiate and provide something truly unique for the community. Because of our location in Hollywood on the Gnomon campus, and our access to studios working on movies and games, it has given us a unique opportunity to bring high-end entertainment production content to the world through video.

We’ve released a few great video features already:

We have a lot more video content coming out soon. Being part of Gnomon, we’ll also be releasing training content courtesy of The Gnomon Workshop.

Let us know how we’re doing!
