In a rare reversal of the CG industry’s gradual shift towards rental-only licensing, Wysilab has introduced perpetual licences for Instant Terra, its promising new terrain-generation software.
Two new perpetual licence types, with different terrain export resolutions
Instant Terra was previously priced at $19.90/month for artists with revenues under $100,000/year and $59/month for studios with revenues under $2 million/year.
Wysilab has now standardised the revenue cap at $500,000/year and ditched the rental pricing, with a perpetual licence of Instant Terra costing $149 for a maximum terrain export resolution of 8,000 x 8,000px, or $199 for unlimited output resolution.
The standard edition supports 64 million vertices and 128 million triangles; Instant Terra Unlimited supports up to 1 billion vertices and 2 billion triangles.
Licences include one year of free software updates, after which users will be able to upgrade to the current release at a 50% discount.
The Professional edition of the software, which offers features geared towards the creation of very large terrains, plus a Python API, is still priced on enquiry.
