Allegorithmic ships Substance Painter 2.6

Allegorithmic has released Substance Painter 2.6, the lastest update to its texture painting software.

It’s a fairly small update – the headline feature is the sample file for Allegorithmic’s new 3D painting contest – but it does add the option to rename texture sets directly inside Substance Painter.

The scripting API has also been extended to enable TDs to replace one version of a resource used in a project with another: for example, when an external asset has been updated.

The new functionality is illustrated in Resources Updater, a free plugin available on GitHub, designed to list the resources used in a project and highlight any outdated versions.

Pricing and availability
Substance Painter 2.6 is available for Windows 7+, CentOS 6.6 or Ubuntu 12.4 Linux and Mac OS X 10.10+.

New Indie licences of the software, intended for artists and studios earning less than $100,000 per year, cost $149; full Pro licences cost $590. The update is free to registered users.
