Watch a free masterclass on 3D environment work

Gnomon – School of Visual Effects, Games and Animation is holding a free two-hour masterclass on creating photorealistic 3D environments at its Hollywood campus this Thursday, 2 June.

The event will also be broadcast worldwide on Gnomon’s Livestream channel

A complete guide to creating realistic environments by hand or via photogrammetry
The session, presented by Gnomon president and CG artist Alex Alvarez, will cover a range of software applications, including Maya, V-Ray and ZBrush.

Alvarez will also look at photogrammetry techniques, discussing how to photograph, process, and clean up natural assets such as rocks, cliff faces, logs, and trees for use in digital scenes.

For the work, Alvarez will make use of Agisoft’s increasingly widely used PhotoScan software. The session will conclude with a 30-minute Q&A session.

An Evening with Alex Alvarez: Creating Natural 3D Environments will take place at Gnomon’s Hollywood campus from 7.00-9.30pm on Thurday 2 June 2016. Entry is free, but you’ll need to register online in advance.
