Gnomon School of Visual Effects has announced How to Break into the Industry, a free panel discussion with four of the school’s successful recent alumni, held at its Hollywood campus on Thursday 5 November.

Practical careers advice for VFX, animation and games
The panel spans every sector of the entertainment industry: from visual effects, ILM generalist Sonja Christoph, and from animation, Walt Disney Animation Studios environment modeler James Schauf.

The games industry is represented by Brandon Bennett, associate artist at Treyarch, and by Servando Lupini, associate 3D artist at Blizzard Entertainment.

As well as revealing their own routes into the industry, the panel will discuss the different types of jobs available, how studios differ from one another, and how your skills can cross industries.

And if you’re watching from outside the US – the event will also be streamed live online – the panel will also discuss the challenges and rewards of relocating overseas to study and work.

Free to attend or view online
How to Break into the Industry runs from 7.00-9.30pm on Thursday 5 November at Gnomon’s Hollywood campus. Entry is free, but you’ll need to register online in advance, and seating is first-come-first-served.

The event will also be streamed online, so you can watch anywhere in the world, even after the live event.
