Red Giant Software releases Universe 1.3

Red Giant Software has released Universe 1.3, the latest update to its online library of effects and transitions for editing and compositing packages, adding a diverse set of new tools and support for DaVinci Resolve.

CrumplePop tools now available for non-FCP users
In total, the update adds 13 new tools, of which seven are from Final Cut Pro plugin specialist CrumplePop, and which are now available for other host applications for the first time.

Users with free Universe accounts get two CrumplePop tools mimicking the look of stills photography, plus four other effects and transitions, shown in the demo video above.

Paid account holders get five CrumplePop effects, including an automatic fix for fisheye distortion in GoPro footage and a tilt-shift effect; plus tools to mimic chromatic aberration and the look of old VHS footage.

Pricing and availability
The Universe 1.3 release makes all 81 tools in the library compatible with increasingly popular colour grading system DaVinci Resolve, along with After Effects, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X, Motion and Sony Vegas.

Support extends to the free Lite edition of DaVinci Resolve 11.1, but only to the version downloaded from the Blackmagic Design website, not the one from the Mac App store, as this FAQ page explains.

Free membership gives you access to 43 of those tools; paid membership gives you access to the lot, and costs $10/month, $99/year, or $399 for permanent access.
