Gnomon releases full guide to character animation

The Gnomon Workshop has released Performance & Acting: Creating Believable Characters, a complete step-by-step guide to animating a shot requiring lip sync from Guardians of the Galaxy animator In-Ah Roediger.

In the 150-minute video, Roediger explores how the process would be tackled in on a real animated feature, beginning with short planning and reference material, and moving through lip sync, blocking and refining curves.

The tutorial draws on her years of experience in animation and VFX to illustrate how to give your own work that extra push. The video assumes a working knowledge of Maya, but the principles apply to any app.
